Here's something:  Today marks the last day of Ordinary Time, also known as Fat Tuesday. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, the start of Lent, when Catholics like moi enter the season of fasting and abstinence prior to Easter. (Well, fasting. I'm on a floating pickle barrel of a boat. Wine and women are verboten, so abstinence is a given).

 Lent sucks. It really does. You gotta give up something you enjoy for 40 days, and there are dietary restrictions, as well, if you're healthy and able-bodied.

 BUT... fear not. Just as Inappropriately Hot Foreign Wife enriched my wife and brought joy into my life by introducing me to a whole new culture and way of life. so too, I am sharing this joy with you... wait for it...

Brazil's 2014 Carnival season wraps up today. Check back here often and oftener for pictures. Even though you and I couldn't be there this year, we have God's gift to men, the Web, for some second-hand ogling of Brazil's celebration. Stay tuned.

So, my mom's house is about 6-7 miles across the harbor from Boston, and my brother and sister, both of whom were there today, heard the blasts from the Marathon bombs. My brother assumed that he was hearing ledge blasting or pile driving going on at the Fore River bridge construction site a few miles away. Quite a shock to hear otherwise, I'm sure.
       As for me, I heard about it on Facebook,of all places, and turned the news on. Pretty raw stuff.
 Enough said.  I called my wife and checked in, told her about it; makes me nuts, sometimes. Inappropriately Hot Foreign Wife watches the daily news in Brazil, rather than here... then again, having seen what passes for news on TV these days, she's not missing much. Anyhow, it was quite a thing. I had to knock off early, as I've got the midwatch tonight, anyhow, but as you can imagine, there wasn't much sleep to be had, and what little sleep there was, well... shitty, weird dreams.

Well, September is almost over, and I almost forgot to post this month's beautiful Brazilian women. Shame on me. Anyhow, in the name of science, International Relations, and good genetics, I give you this month's proof that God loves us and wants us to go to Brazil again. Or me, at least. God wants me to go to Brazil again.
